September 18, 2012 - Air Force Research Lab, Rome, NY, tasks ZelTech to hekp improve High-Altitude ISR Operations.
ZelTech has been tasked by the Air Force Research Lab in Rome NY to help improve two aspects of high-altitude ISR operations. In Task 1, we will assess ways to introduce new technologies and interfaces to improve the proficiency of personnel working in Mission Control Elements (MCEs) for remotely piloted aircraft (RPAs). In particular, the study will determine how U-2 mission pilots could most effectively man these MCEs without first-hand experience in RPAs. In Task 2, the ZelTech team will prototype a display device for the U-2 cockpit that will enhance situational awareness, make pilot activities more efficient, and improve U-2 pilot training effectiveness. Our major teammate for this task, Draper Laboratory, provides exceptional knowledge and experience in U-2 mission operations, prototype development and flight test expertise. This two-year, $4.9 million effort will take place in Hampton, VA, Cambridge, MA, and Rome, NY.
August 29, 2012 - ZelTech Selected to Provide Advanced Visual and Acoustic Simulations to More Realistically Replicate Battlefield Effects for US Army Live Training
The ZelTech Training and Simulation Group of Orlando, Florida, has been selected by the U.S. Army Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation (PEO STRI) to produce the next generation of battlefield effects for the Army. The contract, worth up to $35M over a three year period, taps into the talents of one of the strongest live training engineering and management teams available to develop new visual, audio and tactically accurate battlefield effects for the Army's future live training programs. Simulation systems development and manufacturing and program execution will take place in Central Florida.
The new contract, Battlefield Effects Simulator (BES II), will provide units with realistic effects during their Force -On-Target tactical training. It will produce the flash/bang and smoke signatures of various weapons systems used in training and will replicate large caliber weapon fire and impact rounds on armor targets. The BES II system is intended for use in day and night range exercises for visual and acoustic target recognition at stationary range positions and on moving target platforms. The system is a core feature of live-fire training throughout the Army.
"The ZelTech team is ready to execute the program to put these simulations out in the hands of our troops," stated ZelTech’s Group Manager, Bill Barfield. "We are honored to have been selected for this important mission, and our seasoned staff of engineers and managers are leaning forward to make the BES II system a reality for our Soldiers."
